Fusarium wilt is one of the major diseases leading to great losses in banana crop in Brazil since most cultivars used are susceptible. The objective of the present work was to evaluate agronomical characteristics and resistance to Fusarium wilt in dip-loid banana hybrids. The experiment was carried out at the experimental field at Embrapa Cassava and Tropical Fruits in complete randomized design with 10 rep-licates of one plant each. Seven banana diploid hybrids were evaluated (SH3263, 013004-04, 013004-06, 013018-01, 051019-01, 042023-06, 001016-01) in the years 2000 and 2001. Data of the agronomical characteristics and Fusarium wilt resistance evaluated were submitted to the analysis of variance and the averages of the genotypes grouped by the Scott & Knott test at 5% of probability. The SH32- 63 genotype presented favorable values for number of hands per bunch, number of fruits per bunch, height of fruits and low Panama disease incidence. All the hybrids were resistant to Panama disease, especially the diploid 001016-01. The high vari-ability encountered enables the selection of (AA) diploids with potential use in breeding programs of this crop. |
